April 7th is World Health Day 2014

Under the sponsorship (WHO), the World Health Organization is celebrated every year on the same date.  The First World Health Assembly was held in 1948, and in 1950 designated April 7th as World Health Day.

This date marks the founding of WHO, to bring worldwide attention to the importance of global health.

International, regional and local events are organized by WHO every year, with a particular theme.

Their objective is to attain the highest level of health to all people.  The topic for 2014 is vector-borne diseases.
